Viral heat resistance and infectious ribonucleic acid.
نویسندگان
چکیده
High-titer suspensions of poliovirus 1 and coxsackievirus B-2 were shown to contain a heat-resistant fraction when heated for 65 min at temperature ranging from 56 to 70 degrees C. The addition of ribonuclease to the heated suspensions eliminated plaque production in the cell cultures, indicating that the resistant fraction was infectious ribonucleic acid that had been liberated from ruptured viruses during the heating process.

Method for increasing the regularity of isolation of infectious ribonucleic acid from influenza virus.
A more effective method of isolating infectious ribonucleic acid (RNA) from influenza virus was evaluated based on the enzymatic disintegration of the viral coat by Pronase, followed by phenol-detergent extraction of the RNA from susceptible and from resistant cells.
متن کاملDestruction of L cells by Mengo virus: use of interferon to study the mechanism.
Interferon, when added to L cells, inhibited the synthesis of infectious Mengo viral ribonucleic acid, hemagglutinins, and infectious virus by 85 to 95%. Serum-blocking antigens were also reduced by the action of interferon, but threefold excess amounts of these antigens accumulated in interferon-treated cultures above the amounts expected for the quantity of infectious virus that was produced ...
متن کاملMolecular epidemiology of viral meningitis in children in south east of Caspian Sea, Iran
Viruses are the most common causes of aseptic meningitis. Early detection, treatment and management of viral meningitis are priority. This study aimed to evaluate common viral meningitis in children referred to Taleghani pediatrics hospital in Gorgan, south east of Caspian Sea, Iran. In this descriptive study CSF and blood samples were taken from 40 children with negative bacterial culture who ...
متن کاملInterference among group A arboviruses.
Interference among group A arboviruses is described which does not involve the mediation of interferon. Interference was observed only if the interfering virus had an advantage over the challenge virus, either in time or in multiplicity of infection. Adsorption, penetration, and uncoating of challenge virus did not appear to be inhibited, but the synthesis of infectious viral ribonucleic acid o...
متن کاملDrug- Resistance- Associated Mutations and HIV Sub-Type Determination in Drug-Naïve and HIV-Positive Patients under Treatment with Antiretroviral Drugs
Abstract Background and Objective: Resistance to antiretroviral agents is a significant concern in clinical management of HIV-infected individuals. Resistance is the result of mutations that develops in the viral protein targeted by antiretroviral agents. Material and Methods: In this cross-sectional study, the blood samples of 40 HIV-positive patients were collected. Twenty of them were d...
